Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team took a step outside of SUNYAC play on Wednesday for a doubleheader on the road against the University of Rochester. After a pair of losses (7-1 & 8-0), Brockport's record becomes 9-13 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
Game 1 – Brockport 1, U of R 7
Emma DeJesus made good on two of her three at-bats in the first game of the day.
Morgan Skpowski was 1-for-3, connecting on a double that led to one run scored.
Cameryn Duggan was credited with one RBI in the contest.
Olivia Hayden,
Madison Ross, and
Amanda Blakely were all 1-for-3 at the plate.
Catherine Johnson (L, 1-5) made her sixth start of the season, throwing for three innings in a loss.
Julia Palopoli also registered three innings of work to finish off the game. She allowed just one run, one hit, and struck out two batters.
The University of Rochester connected for four hits in the bottom of the first which brought three runs in to score. Another run in the second gave the U of R a 4-0 lead over the Green and Gold.
Morgan Skpowski hit a double in the third and was later brought in to score by
Cameryn Duggan to get Brockport on the board. The U of R would add to its lead with runs in the third and fifth innings to ultimately take game one, 7-1.
Game 2 – Brockport 0, U of R 8
Kellie Gentile had Brockport's lone hit in the game, going 1-for-2 at the plate.
Megan Van Dorn (L, 0-2) went the whole way in her third start of the season. She had one strikeout and just two walks in 4.2 innings pitched.
The Yellowjackets were in control early on with a two-run homer in the first inning. Another home run in the third made it a 3-0 game. The U of R would go on to score five more runs in the fifth inning to finish off the 8-0 victory at home.
The Golden Eagles get back to their home field this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC matchups. They host Fredonia for a 3 pm start on Friday and then welcome Buffalo State on Saturday at 12 pm for Senior Day.
