BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team defeated the Potsdam Bears 12-6 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.
The win marks the Golden Eagles' ninth of the season and are now 9-3 and are now the second most winningest team in Brockport men's lacrosse history. The 2016 men's lacrosse team holds the most wins in a single season with 12. With 12 goals in today's game, it brings the team's total to 168 total goals this season just eight goals short of tying the team's most goals scored in a season record of 176 goals set by the 2016 Golden Eagles.

Offensive Scoring: Two Golden Eagles recorded four points in the game as
Rocco Santillo and
Owen VanWie both recorded two goals and two assists against the Bears.
Carson Colucci tallied three points on two goals and an assist while
Jack Peterson recorded two goals in the game.
Patrick Sheridan and
Jhovanny Olivares also recorded two points with each scoring one goal and tallying one assist.
Nate Askin and
Ethan Barrett both scored goals in the game while
Nelson Logan recorded an assist off a behind-the-back pass.
Defensive Numbers: Brockport's leader in faceoffs this season
Ethan Stiles recorded a career-high 12 ground balls against the Bears while also going 18-21 on faceoffs while getting off two shots against Potsdam.
Luke Conway,
Aidan Fitzgerald, and
James Mirabell all recorded three ground balls with
John Felice,
Jack Peterson, and
Anthony McGee scooping up two each. In total, the Golden Eagles finished with a total of 32 ground balls.
Totaling 13 caused turnovers as a team,
James Mirabell caused three with
Luke Conway, Fitzgerald, and Felice causing two. Peterson, Olivares,
Chris Bock, and
Cam Kremer each recorded one.
Goalkeeper: John Felice spent all 60-minutes in the crease for Brockport as he managed to make 11 saves to pick up his ninth win of the season. With nine wins and two games remaining, Felice is tied for the most wins by a men's lacrosse goalkeeper in program history. This season he has made a total of 109 saves and has a 7.56 goals-against average and a .592 save percentage.
Scoring Summary: Brockport opened up the senior day with a 2-0 lead over the Potsdam bears within the first three minutes of the game as senior
Jack Peterson tallied the first goal of the game. The Bears would tie it back up 2-2 before Brockport scored four unanswered goals to pull away with a 6-2 lead. The Bears would get one more point on the board before the buzzer sounded at the end of the first quarter as Brockport was up 6-3 over SUNY Potsdam.
Senior
Patrick Sheridan would get the 86th point of his career after recording an assist earlier in the game before Potsdam would score again making it now a 7-4 game. From there, Brockport would score once more in the second quarter and then two times in the third making it 10-4 Brockport entering the final quarter of the game. The final quarter consisted of Potsdam scoring first and then the Bears and Golden Eagles each exchanging two goals before the final horn went off to secure Brockport with the 12-6 victory.
Both teams recorded even 34 shots. Felice recorded seven of his 11 saves against shots on goal in the fourth quarter alone. Brockport picked up 32 total ground balls in the game compared to Potsdam's 12 ground balls while Potsdam only won three of 21 total faceoffs. On extra-man opportunities, Brockport went .500 capitalizing on 3-of-6 of their chances while Potsdam only recorded one goal on 11 extra-man chances.
