Softball Sweeps Oswego on the Road to Start the Weekend

Oswego, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team came away with two nice wins over Oswego on the road Friday. Brockport swept the Lakers with wins of 9-4 and 11-6, as the team improves its record to 13-17 overall and 6-10 in the conference. The Green and Gold remain eligible for the postseason heading into the season finale on Saturday.
 
Game 1 – Brockport 9, Oswego 4
 
With two home runs in the contest, Molly Ryan was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. She has now hit three homers on the season to lead Brockport. Annie Dipirro was also 2-for-4 with three RBIs, scoring a run and connecting for a double.
 
Cameryn Duggan was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, two RBIs, and one run scored. Amanda O'Connor scored two runs and batted 3-for-4 in game one. Kellie Gentile hit a double for her one hit in four at-bats and scored a run. Going 1-for-3 with two runs scored, Hailey Burdick also knocked in one run.
 
Hali Jenner (W, 4-6) allowed just one earned run in four full innings of work. She struck out three batters in the win as the starter. Catherine Johnson finished off the final three innings without allowing any hits or runs. Johnson also struck out six batters in the contest.
 
After a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, Cameryn Duggan put Brockport on the board in the third with an RBI double. Shortly after Annie Dipirro made it a 3-0 game with a double that brought two runs in to score. Oswego scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead.
 
Hailey Burdick tied the score up with an RBI single in the fourth. Duggan then brought Burdick in to score so Brockport regained a 5-4 advantage. Molly Ryan then went on to hit home runs in back-to-back plate appearances in the fifth and sixth innings to stretch the lead. Brockport went on to take game one, 9-4.
 
Game 2 – Brockport 11, Oswego 6
 
Cameryn Duggan stayed hot in the batter's box with a flawless 5-for-5 outing with a double and two runs scored in game two. She extends her hitting streak to eight games and has had multiple hits in six straight. Kellie Gentile went yard for the first time in her collegiate career, finishing the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
 
Amanda O'Connor was 2-for-4 at the dish with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Emma DeJesus also connected for a double, going 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI. Amanda Blakely went 2-for-3 in the game win a run scored.
 
Annie Dipirro went 1-for-5 with two RBIs in the game. Dipirro extends her hitting streak to eight games after recording hits in both games of the doubleheader. Olivia Hayden knocked in one run and scored once herself, while batting 1-for-4.
 
Molly Ryan had one hit in four at-bats, bringing in one run to score. Emily Willis-Nersinger brought a run in to score in her one try at the plate. Megan Van Dorn scored a run and registered an RBI.
 
Megan Van Dorn (W, 1-3) earned the win in the circle, making her fifth start of the season. She pitched for four innings, striking out one batter, and allowing two earned runs. Julia Palopoli and Catherine Johnson each stepped in to help close out the game. Palopoli pitched two innings with two strikeouts and Johnson had two strikeouts in one inning of work.
 
It was Oswego that got on the board first in game two, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. In the top of the second, Kellie Gentile tied the score up at 1-1 with a solo home run. The Lakers would benefit from three runs in the fourth to seize a 5-1 lead.
 
Brockport got right back into the game with a huge six-run rally in the fifth inning. Five different Golden Eagles recorded an RBI in the fifth, helping the squad jump out to a 7-5 advantage on the scoreboard. Another four runs in the last two innings gave Brockport its cushion to create the 11-6 final score.
 
With a spot in the postseason still on the line, the Golden Eagles are on the road Saturday for one last SUNYAC doubleheader. They close out the regular season against Cortland, with game one of the set scheduled for a 12 pm start.
