Brockport to Conclude Regular Season at Home Against Oneonta for Senior Day

Brockport, NY – For the final game of the regular season, the SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team will host Oneonta on Saturday for a 1 pm start. It is Senior Day as the squad has a chance to lock up the No. 3 seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament.
 
Senior Day: Saturday is Senior Day and prior to the game the graduating members of the team will be recognized in a short ceremony. The 2022 senior class includes Allison Jennings, Emily Caramore, Erin Wegrzyn, Danielle Hemly, Maddie Flack, Emma Smith, and Morgan Elmer.
 
Last Time Out: In a battle between the Green and Golds, Brockport defeated Oswego at home the last time out. A dominant 8-1 showing in the second quarter set the table for a blowout victory for Brockport. The home team went on to win a comfortable, 16-5, game to improve to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
 
On a Tear: The Golden Eagles have been rolling lately and have won four straight heading into the weekend. During this four-game stretch they are outscoring their opponents, 71-16. Scoring an average of 17.75 goals per game, the team is also only allowing an average of four goals during the streak. Brockport appears to be heating up just at the right time with the SUNYAC Tournament coming up fast.
 
Putting Up Numbers: Claire Odett has been lighting it up on offense, totaling 30 points during the team's four-game win streak. Odett has registered five or more points in four straight and she ranks fifth in the SUNYAC with 62 points on the year. She is leading the team in both goals (37) and assists (25). Cassidy Burnash has scored a hat trick in three of the team's last four games. With 31 goals on the season she is Brockport's second leading goal scorer. Burnash continues her streak with 27 games in a row with a goal.
 
Making Plays: Logan Hibbard had five points on four goals and one assist last game, making it three out of four with at least five points. Hibbard is second on the team with 46 points, leads Brockport with 60 draw controls, and is tied for first with 16 caused turnovers. Allison Jennings is third on the team with 41 points from 29 goals and 12 assists. Courtney Cunningham has contributed all over with 15 goals, 32 groundballs, 16 caused turnovers, and 48 draw controls.
 
Protecting the Net: Morgan Elmer remains atop the SUNYAC with her saves percentage of 56.3% this season. Elmer is also second in the conference in both goals allowed average (9.66) and total saves (151). She remains as solid as ever in net and was recently named the SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this year.
 
SUNYAC Picture: The SUNYAC Tournament is scheduled to begin next week, with the first round being played on Tuesday, May 3rd. Here is a look at the full conference standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. 1. Cortland (8-0), 2. Geneseo (7-1), 3. Brockport (6-2), 4. Oneonta (5-3), 5. New Paltz, 6. Oswego (4-4), 7. Plattsburgh (3-5), 8. Buffalo State (2-6), 9. Potsdam (1-7), 10. Fredonia (0-8).
 
Scouting Oneonta: After back-to-back losses against New Paltz and Geneseo, the Oneonta Red Dragons are now 7-7 overall and 5-3 in the SUNYAC. #15 Megan Foiles ranks third in the SUNYAC with 67 total points, coming on 41 goals and 26 assists. #31 Courtney Gallagher has made 116 saves in net and earned a .426 saves percentage for the Red Dragons as their starting goalie. Oneonta has already clinched a postseason berth and is competing with Brockport for the third seed. Brockport has won eight in a row over Oneonta, including a 16-7 win in last season's meeting.
 
Back to SUNYACs: With a spot in the postseason already clinched, the Golden Eagles are heading back to the SUNYAC Tournament once again this season. They continue the journey to get back to the SUNYAC Finals for the sixth straight season.
