Wagner Gets 200th Career Win in Dominant Showing Against Fredonia

Brockport, NY – The No. 19 SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team dominated Fredonia at home for the 19-3 victory. With this win, Head Coach Stephen Wagner earns the 200th victory of his coaching career.
 
Wagner is already the program's all-time winningest coach and continues to add to his resume. With 85 wins prior to taking over at Brockport in 2012, he has won 115 games now for the Green and Gold to hit 200 for his career.
 
The Golden Eagles had three players finish with five points in the contest. Claire Odett and Alayna Foos both recorded four goals and one assist. Allison Jennings earned her points from three goals and two assists.
 
With two goals in the game, Cassidy Burnash extends her streak to 21 consecutive games with at least one score. Alexandria VanDerKar also scored twice on the day. Logan Hibbard and Courtney Cunningham each had one score and one helper. Emily Caramore and Danielle Hemly found the back of the net once each.
 
Erin Wegrzyn scooped up a team-high four groundballs and caused two turnovers on defense. Paige Thowe forced two turnovers and grabbed three groundballs, while Maddie Flack also caused two turnovers. Goalie Morgan Elmer made four saves in three quarters, before Erin Lant entered to close out the game.
 
It was all Brockport right from the very start of the game, as the team scored two goals in the first 45 seconds of play. The squad had its highest scoring quarter of the season with nine goals in the first to hold a 9-2 lead. Brockport scored three more unanswered goals in the second to take a 12-2 halftime advantage.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to hold its lead for the full 60 minutes, allowing just one goal in the second half. Winning the final two periods, 7-1, they marched on to the 19-3 victory. It was the team's highest scoring output so far this year.
 
Brockport outshot Fredonia, 37-9, in this SUNYAC battle. The visiting Blue Devils committed 23 turnovers compared to a season-low, six turnovers by Brockport. The squad also outhustled Fredonia to win the groundball battle, 22-3, as the Green and Gold improved to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC.
 
The Golden Eagles now prepare for the Whiteout Game under the lights on Saturday night. They take on rival SUNY Cortland at home for a 7 pm start.
