Brockport Lands Seven on All-Conference Teams; Santillo Named Offensive Player of the Year & Brockport Earns Co-Coaching Staff of the Year

The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team landed seven student-athletes on SUNYAC All-Conference Teams in a release by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.  Senior Rocco Santillo was named the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year, while the Brockport coaching staff, led by Ben Wineburg, was named the SUNYAC Co-Coaching Staff of the Year.

Patrick Sheridan (attack), Rocco Santillo (offensive midfield), Luke Conway (defender), Aidan Fitzgerald (long stick), Max Riley (short stick) and Ethan Stiles (face-off specialist) each earned all-conference first team honors.  Goalie John Felice was named to the all-conference second team.

Santillo is the first player in program-history to earn the conference's offensive player of the year award and six all-conference first team selections are a new program-best.  Wineburg, joined on the sidelines by assistant coaches Justin Hussey and Tim Britton, earned his second career coach of the year honor. Brockport finished the year with a 10-5 overall record, marking the second most wins in program-history. They earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament but fell in the semifinals on the road at Geneseo.  Brockport was making its sixth conference tournament appearance since 2011. Brockport's 191 goals this season set a new program record.

Santillo, making his first career all-conference team, capped his senior season with a career-high 44 points on 35 goals and nine assists.  His 35 goals in a single season rank sixth all-time at Brockport. In 36 career games with the green and gold he has 59 points on 43 goals and 16 assists. He was also recently named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. 

Sheridan, making his first career all-conference team, was Brockport's active leading scorer with 92 career points in 53 games played.  His 30 goals and 11 assists this season were both career-bests.  His 41 points ranked second on the team this season, only behind Santillo. His 69 career goals rank sixth all-time at Brockport.  He is one of nine players in program-history to score 90+ career points.

Aidan Fitzgerald is making his second straight appearance on the all-conference team as a long stick.  He had career-highs in both ground balls (68) and caused turnovers (36). He led the league and ranked 27th nationally with 2.77 caused turnovers per game.  He also ranked third in the SUNYAC with an average of 5.23 ground balls per game.   In 37 career games played he has 144 ground balls and 78 caused turnovers.  He also has eight points on two goals and six assists. 

Ethan Stiles will go down as arguably the top face-off man in program-history.  He joins the ranks of the best players in program-history with his third consecutive all-conference selection.  This season he posted a career-best 92 ground balls, and he capped his season ranked 25th nationally with a 65.6 face-off %.  In 39 career games he posted 175 ground balls and 449 face-off wins.  He had a career face-off winning percentage of 59.0%. He also added two goals and two assists this season.

Max Riley had undoubtedly his best season in the green and gold as he posted 45 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers in 15 games played this year. He posted a career-high 12 ground balls in Brockport's win at New Paltz.  Riley is making his first career all-conference team. 

Luke Conway had a breakout year for the Brockport defense as he posted career-highs in ground balls (32) and caused turnovers (19). He also registered his first collegiate goal. He posted a career-high six ground balls against Morrisville and added a career-best three caused turnovers against Hilbert this season. Conway is making his first career all-conference team.

Senior goalie John Felice logged his first all-conference selection this season after breaking the program's single season record for goalie wins with 10 and setting a new personal best with 138 saves.  His 363 career saves are a new program best.  He also posted 70 career ground balls in 39 games played. 

As a team, the Golden Eagles finished the year ranked 14th nationally in clearing % (.881), 13th in face-off winning % (.663), 11th in man-down defense (.826),  and 14th in scoring defense (7.93).
