Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles are moving on to the SUNYAC Semifinals after they defeated New Paltz, 13-7, in Tuesday's first round battle. Brockport will travel to Cortland, NY on Friday to take on the Geneseo Knights at 4 pm.
Although New Paltz grabbed an early lead, Brockport responded in a big way. The home squad scored eight unanswered goals in the first half to take a lead it did not give up. The Green and Gold handled business in round one of the SUNYAC Tournament with the six-goal victory.
Logan Hibbard stuffed the stat sheet by contributing all over the field in this one. She had four points on two goals and two assists, snagged a team-high six draw controls, caused one turnover, and grabbed a groundball.
Allison Jennings lit it up with four goals in the contest, giving her nine scores in the last two games.
Cassidy Burnash scored two of her three goals off of free position opportunities. She extends her streak to 29 games in a row with a goal and led the team with seven groundballs on the day.
Claire Odett dished out a pair of assists and scored once on her own to register three points.
Alayna Foos scored twice in the game and also caused one turnover.
Courtney Cunningham finished with one goal, four groundballs, one caused turnover, and three draw controls.
Morgan Elmer got it done in net for the full 60 for the Golden Eagles. She made seven saves, caused two turnovers, and scooped up two groundballs.
The early minutes of this first round matchup belonged to New Paltz, as the visiting Hawks scored first just 1:21 into the game. They would make it a 2-0 lead, but Brockport had an explosive answer.
The Golden Eagles erupted with eight straight goals through to the second quarter, as they jumped out to an 8-2 lead.
Allison Jennings and
Alayna Foos both beat the New Paltz goalie twice in the first quarter to spark the offense. Brockport entered halftime leading the Hawks, 8-4.
Jennings completed her hat trick in the third quarter, as the pace of the game slowed down in the second half. New Paltz closed the gap with two scores in the third, making it a 9-6 game. However, Brockport once again had an answer and began the fourth with a 11-6 lead.

Cassidy Burnash made it a six-goal advantage for the Green and Gold with 12:20 left to play. Burnash completed her hat trick, while Jennings added some cushion with her fourth of the day. Brockport gets its 11
th win of the season and advances to the next round of the conference tournament.
The Golden Eagles continue on their path to a sixth straight trip to the SUNYAC Finals this Friday. They face-off against Geneseo in the semifinal round in Cortland, NY, as Cortland earned hosting rights as the No. 1 seed. #3 Brockport plays #2 Geneseo on May 6
