Alfred, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team wan on the road Thursday against Alfred University. The Golden Eagles were unable to match the Saxons' first half score, falling 1-0 in the season opener.
Shot totals for the game were even at 7 apiece for both squads by the final horn.
Kiley Longin fired three shots off on the day, while freshman
Lucy Crounse placed Brockport's lone shot on goal.
Goalkeeper
Kayla Usborne went the full 90 minutes in net for the Green and Gold. She came up with three saves and allowed one score.
Camryn Pettit,
Karlie Mann, and
Kellie Gentile all registered one shot in the contest.
Alfred's Kayla Silverstein scored an unassisted goal at 33:59 in the first half. This gave the Saxons a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. This goal would go on to become the game-winner, as neither school could find the back of the net for the remainder of the match.
Brockport starts the 2022 season off at 0-1, while Alfred moves to 1-0 following Thursday's non-conference battle.
The Golden Eagles now look forward to their home opener on the new turf at the Dr. Linda Arena Field. They break in the fresh field on Sunday, September 4
th for a 1 pm start against St. John Fisher.
