The Golden Eagles were on the defense in the early goings of the contest. The visiting Cardinals drew three corner kicks and had three shots by the 21st minute. However, Brockport's defense held off the opponent to keep Fisher from finding the back of the net. At 23:16 it was Sydnee Smith who would get the first chance offensively, firing a shot that required saving from the St. John Fisher goalkeeper, Avery Byrnes.

Prior to the half the home team in white drew a corner kick and had another shot threaten the Cardinals. Franchesca Polcaro took her shot with an opportunity to score but Byrnes turned it away. St. John Fisher had one last attack right before halftime, but Brockport goalie Kayla Usborne stepped up to make the save. The visiting team entered the break outshooting the Golden Eagles 4-2, but the score remained tied at 0-0.

Going into the second half, Brockport stepped onto the turf with a greater sense of urgency. Within the first two minutes after play resumed the squad had drawn a corner kick and placed two more shots on goal off of the opportunity. Mascaro played the ball in off the corner, which found its way to freshman Lucy Crounse who fired a shot that was saved. Just seconds later off of the rebound, Sydnee Smith also threatened to score but Byrnes was there once again for the stop.

After a combined total of just three saves in the first half between the two keepers, Kayla Usborne and Avery Byrnes would get tested in the second half. Brockport outshot Fisher 8-6 in the second, and both goalies came up big with four saves. Usborne recorded five saves on the day, while Byrnes made six for St. John Fisher.

Both squads had chances to score, including a flurry of shots from Brockport just after the 73:00 mark. Camryn Pettit and Lyndsey Miller both went wide on shot attempts, while Kaleigh Pettit and Emily Maczka both had shots blocked by Fisher defenders. With time remaining to play dwindling both teams would get one last opportunity to score in the final five minutes. Julia Mascaro's 1v1 shot with the goalie was saved and the Cardinals fired wide on their attempt, resulting in the 0-0 draw.

The Golden Eagles are back home on the Dr. Linda Arena Field on Wednesday, September 7th. They welcome the University of Rochester for a 4 pm non-conference matchup.
