BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team will host its second Turn the Turf Teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness game on Tuesday, September 20
th at 4:00 pm on the Dr. Linda Arena and Class of '69 Field Hockey Venue against Ithaca. It will be the team's final non-conference matchup before traveling to face SUNY Cortland on Saturday, September 24
th at 1:00 pm.
Turn The Turf Teal: September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. "This cause means so much to us" Head Coach
Krista Archambeau commented. "It hits us close to home, as one of our alumni lost her mother to Ovarian Cancer in 2019, while she was a member of Brockport Field Hockey. We work together as a team daily to play field hockey, and although Tuesday's field hockey game will be SUNY Brockport vs. Ithaca College, we would like to fight together to expand that team to fight cancer."
Every day Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance-funded scientists are working to save women's lives. 1 in 78 women will get diagnosed with ovarian cancer. There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer. The money raised will help researchers better understand the origins and biology of the disease, find new ways to identify and prevent it, and discover more treatments that are effective. So far, The Brockport Field Hockey team has raised nearly $2,000 towards Ovarian Cancer research and hopes to meet a goal of $3,000.
