CORTLAND, NY - The SUNY Brockport field hockey team lost its second game of the season and conference opener to the 2021 SUNYAC Runner-up SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Saturday evening by a score of 4-1.

Offensive Leaders: Bailey Lazore scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season against the Red Dragons. She now has seven goals this season and one assist for 15 points.
Katelynn Mello provided the assist on the goal giving her team-leading fourth assist. She now also has three goals for 10 points on the year.

The Stats: The Green and Gold were outshot by Cortland 34-2 while the Red Dragons earned 23 penalty corners to Brockport's two all game.

Defensive Heroics: In saves,
Ella Buchanan had a very impressive game in the cage despite the outcome as she made 17 total saves. The former goalkeeper
Emma Acevedo on defense also made two defensive saves in the game to prevent Cortland's lead from increasing along with
Mary Young and
Justine Draper whom each had one defensive save as well.

What's Next: The Golden Eagles will next look to turn things around and bounce back on Tuesday, September 27
th when they travel to Houghton College and take on the Houghton Highlanders at 7:00 pm
