Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team is at home on Friday for the final home match of the fall season. Brockport hosts Geneseo for a 4pm start time on September 30
th to continue SUNYAC competition.
New Paltz Invitational: New Paltz hosted an exhibition event, the New Paltz Invitational, over the weekend. The one-day tournament welcomed New Paltz, SUNY Brockport and Ramapo College. The Golden Eagles claimed one victory in the singles action of the day. Brockport took victories in three doubles matches during the afternoon session.
SUNYAC Victory: Prior to the weekend action down in New Paltz, the Golden Eagles defeated Fredonia on the road, 8-1. The win pushed the squad to 2-4 overall and improved the conference record to 2-1.
Summary VS Fredonia: Brockport nearly swept the Blue Devils back on September 17
th. Fredonia scored its lone point from singles play, while the Gold Eagles took the rest.
The Golden Eagles swept doubles play to take three big match points.
Eliza Gonzalez and
Elizabeth Sirico got the win in first doubles, 8-5. In second doubles the pairing of
Lena Paolicelli and
Olivia Raschiatore got the win, 8-2. Finally in the third doubles matchup,
Emma Lissow and
Sophie Langdon cruised to an 8-0 victory,
Gonzalez took care of business in the first singles spot, winning in two sets 6-1, 6-0. Raschiatore followed suit in second singles at 6-0, 6-0. Winning 6-1, 6-1 in fourth singles, Sirico scored another point in a conference battle for the Green and Gold.
Emma Lissow won fifth singles 6-2, 6-2 and
Shannon Aubin stepped up for a 6-2, 6-2 win in sixth singles.
Big Weekend Ahead: The Golden Eagles will travel to Binghamton, NY next week for three straight SUNYAC matches to close out the fall season. They take on Plattsburgh at 3pm on Thursday, October 6
th, Oneonta at 3pm on Friday, and New Paltz at 3pm on Saturday.
