Volleyball Improves to 3-0 in the SUNYAC After Defeating SUNY Geneseo 3-1

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team defeated SUNY Geneseo in a 2021 SUNYAC Semi-final rematch on Wednesday night by a score of 3-1. Brockport's set scores were (25-14 / 25-15 / 26-24 / 25-14).
 
Team Stats: The Golden Eagles outplayed Geneseo in all five major statistical categories. Brockport earned 70.0 points, 55 kills, 10 aces, five blocks, 50 assists, and 77 digs. Geneseo finished the match with 44.0 points, 36 kills, five aces, three blocks, 34 assists and 50 digs.

Match Leaders: Jordan Thompson recorded 23.5 points in the match against the Knights tallying 17 kills, six service aces, and one block assist while also recording 12 digs in the contest. Her 17 kills and four errors in 36 attempts gave her an impressive .361 hitting percentage.
 
Reigning SUNYAC Offensive Athlete of the Week Andrea Coyle tallied 15 points with 14 kills and two block assists while also getting 10 digs. She finished the match with a .243 hitting percentage. Myah Frostclapps's nine kills in 16 attempts with two errors gave her a .438 hitting percentage in the contest while she earned a total of 12 points from her kills along with two solo blocks and two block assists.
 
Setter Ashley Allen led the team in hitting percentage with a .600 average from her three kills with no errors in five attempts. Allen also led the team with 27 sets. Kerri McHale recorded the second most sets in the match with 15 while earning one point from one kill.
 
Defensively, Libero Madalyn Bowen was the team's leader in digs with 26 in the match, her second most digs in a match this season. After tonight's match, Bowen leads the SUNYAC again in digs per set with an average of 4.96.
 
Conference Leaders: Jordan Thompson and Andrea Coyle are still SUNYAC's top offensive players as Thompson has 244 points this season while Coyle's recorded 221.0 points. in the conference, no other player besides the Brockport duo has recorded more than 200.0 points as Oswego's Cara Simplicio ranks third in the conference with 174.5 points
 
What's Next: The Golden Eagles will next turn their attention to this Saturday when they'll host Ithaca College at 11:00 am before traveling to face Russel Sage College later that afternoon in Rochester, NY.
