Field Hockey Blanks Elmira, 10-0, at Home

Brockport, NY - The Brockport field hockey team was firing on all cylinders on Wednesday, defeating Elmira in dominant fashion, 10-0.

The Golden Eagles offense got going early and often, starting with Sophia Jones finding paydirt following a penalty corner, with assists coming from Emmalee Moore and Bailey Lazore.

Bailey Lazore would net two of her three goals in the contest in the first period to put Brockport ahead 3-0 in the opening frame. Paige Thowe chipped in an assist for her first point of the night, as well as Quinn Guy.

Paige Thowe would round out the scoring in the first quarter, putting Brockport ahead 4-0 at the end of the first.

Just over five minutes into the second, Mia Herman buried a Quinn Guy feed to extend the Brockport advantage to 5-0, which would stand as the halftime ledger. The Golden Eagles outshot Elmira 15-1 in the first half, ending the contest with a 32-3 shot advantage.

The Green and Gold would do more of the same in the 2nd half, with Bailey Lazore, Paige Thowe, and Kelsey Zehr all scoring unassisted goals in the 2nd half to up Brockport's lead to 8-0.

Quinn Guy would add her 3rd and 4th point of the game with her goal in the 4th quarter, thanks to an assist from Madison Kirkpatrick.

Mia Herman added her 2nd goal of the contest late in the 4th off of an assist from Quinn Guy, good for her 5th point of the game, and the final goal for Brockport at 10-0.

Ella Buchanan and Katelynn Banning played 30 minutes each and each recorded a save in a shutout effort.

Quinn Guy (5), Paige Thowe (5), and Bailey Lazore (7) all recorded five points or more each, with Lazore finishing just one point short of tying the Brockport single-game points record.

The Golden Eagles will look to do more of the same as they face off with Oswego State at home on Saturday, October 14th at 11 a.m.
