Field Hockey Shuts Out Oswego, 1-0, for 10th Win of the Year

Brockport, NY - The Brockport field hockey team secured a 1-0 SUNYAC win at home against Oswego on Saturday, October 14th. The victory secured the Golden Eagles first 10 win season since 2011, and the first for Head Coach Krista Archambeau. The Green and Gold improved to 10-4 overall with a 2-2 mark in SUNYAC play.

Both defenses controlled the majority of the first period, before Gianna Salerno found two scoring chances seconds late in the first. Both shots ended up being saved by Oswego goalie KY Philips. Philips would finish with 5 saves across 60 mintues of action.

Following a flurry of scoring chances from both teams, Emmalee Moore would bury a Bailey Lazore feed off the penalty corner to put Brockport ahead 1-0 in the second period. Moore would finish the contest with three shots and two points.

Goalie Ella Buchanan made three of her seven stops in the final six minutes of the second period to keep the Brockport lead at 1-0 at the halftime break.

In the 3rd period, the lone save by either team was made on defense, with Skye Exware putting her body on the line to deny Oswego's Maddie Pflume of the game tying goal.

The Lakers offense looked to threaten early in the 4th, not before Ella Buchanan denied four Oswego scoring chances in the first four minutes of the fourth. Buchanan was stellar as usual, finishing with seven saves across 60 minutes in another shutout effort.

Three Golden Eagles finished with two or more shots, including Kelsey Zehr (3), Emmalee Moore (3), and Gianna Salerno (2).

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will look ahead to Wednesday, October 18th as they prepare for a non-conference clash at Rochester under the lights at 7 p.m.
