Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's tennis team will head to Binghamton, NY for a trio of SUNYAC contests. It all begins with matchups against Plattsburgh State and Oneonta on Thursday at 3 pm and Friday at 6 pm before finishing up match play on Saturday at 3 pm against New Paltz.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles secured their first SUNYAC win of the 2023 season last Saturday, defeating Fredonia at home 6-3. Brockport improved to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC following the match. Brockport's top two doubles teams
Eliza Gonzalez and
Olivia Raschiatore and the twin team of
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin both were victorious against Blue Devils. Gonzalez and Raschiatore were both dominant in singles play, with Gonzalez defeating Bernadette Gens (6-3, 6-1) and Raschiatore defeating Fredonia's Caitlin Snyder (6-4, 6-2). In 4th singles action, Lena Palolicelli won a tightly contested match against Sophie Olson (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6). In 6th singles action, Sophie Langdon dominated to round out the scoring for the Green and Gold, winning 6-2, 6-0.
Season Standouts: Several Golden Eagles have held strong overall and match play records thus far in the 2023 season. Eliza Gonzalez and Olivia Raschiatore have had a very successful start in doubles play, going 5-2 in the first doubles play. Gonzalez has been strong in 1st doubles play as well, posting a 4-3 record and a 9-5 record overall.
The sister duo of Samantha Aubin and Shannon Aubin have been successful in both 2nd and 3rd doubles action, holding a 4-2 record as a duo in the 2023 season.
Scouting Plattsburgh: The Cardinals have earned a 7-4 record with a 1-3 record in SUNYAC play, most recently falling to New Paltz at home 9-0. Brockport will enter Thursday's matchup looking for their first win against Plattsburgh since 2004.
Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons have gotten off to a 4-4 start with a 2-2 record in SUNYAC play in 2023. Oneonta was most recently on the short end of a 6-3 loss at SUNY Cortland last Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will be looking for redemption after a 7-2 loss against the Red Dragons in 2022.
Scouting New Paltz: The Hawks have gotten off to a dominant 4-0 start in SUNYAC play, with a 4-2 record overall. New Paltz is coming off a sweep on the road at Plattsburgh 9-0, ending a two-match losing streak.
SUNYACs in the Spring: The Golden Eagles are fighting for a spot in the SUNYAC Championships that are held in the spring semester of 2024. The conference tournament is scheduled to start on April 26th, 2024.
