Field Hockey Picks up First SUNYAC Win at Oneonta, 3-1

Oneonta, N.Y- The Brockport Field Hockey team picked its first SUNYAC win of the 2023 season on the road 3-1 against Oneonta on Saturday, October 7th. The Golden Eagles improved to 8-4 overall and 1-2 in SUNYAC play following the win.
 
The Brockport offense got going early with Emmalee Moore finding the back of the net less than 3 minutes into the contest, with Quinn Guy adding the assist to Moore's 7th score of the year.
 
Ella Buchanan denied Oneonta Alexandra Howell's chance late in the first, the lone shot on net for the Red Dragons in the first quarter.
 
Following scoring chances from Tiffany Andres and Skye Exware, Quinn Guy would break through 12:04 into the second for her 11th goal of the year, with Kelsey Zehr picking up the assist, her third on the season.
 
Kelsey Zehr would create a scoring chance with 13 seconds remaining but was stopped by Red Dragon goalie Maura Leib. The Golden Eagles would outshoot the Red Dragons 8-4 in the first half.
 
Oneonta would get on the board early in the 3rd, with Alexandra Howell breaking the ice for the Red Dragons, and cutting Brockport's advantage to 2-1.
 
Ella Buchannan and the Golden Eagles' defense would lead the way for the remainder of the 2nd half, with Oneonta recording just two more shots on goal for the rest of the contest, with Buchannan making both saves. Buchannan would finish with 4 saves and just 1 goal allowed in 90 minutes of game action.
 
Emmalee Moore made the final score 3-1 with her penalty shot goal with just one second remaining.
 
The Green and Gold controlled nearly all aspects of the contest, outshooting the Red Dragons 15 to 9 (12 to 5 SOG), committing 4 fewer fouls (14 to 10), and creating more penalty corner chances (7 to 6).  
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will return home for non-conference action against Elmira College on Wednesday, October 11th at 7 p.m.
