Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team was defeated at home against RIT, 67-53, on Tuesday, November 21
st. The Golden Eagles fell to 3-1 on the year following the loss.
The first quarter saw the Brockport defense set the tone, holding the Tigers to just 10 points and 30.8% shooting from the floor, taking a 3-point lead into the second.
The Tiger's offense would come alive in the second quarter, exploding for 26 points on 68.8% shooting from the floor. RIT's defense would also make a statement, holding Brockport to just 10 points in the second to take a 13-point lead into the half.
RIT would hold strong in the second half, holding the Golden Eagles to just 21.4% shooting in the fourth to secure a 67-53 win.
Faye Kaplinski led the charge for the Tigers, leading all scorers with 18 points (7-9 shooting) and 4 rebounds. Ella Wilson (11) and Kaitlyn Bockelman (11) both cracked double figure points for RIT.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste put together another strong two-way performance, leading Brockport with 16 points and 6 steals.
Zairea Hannah found double-digit scoring, scoring 10 points (5-7 shooting) to go along with 7 rebounds.
Zoe Zutes denied the Tigers throughout, ending the contest with a game-high 5 blocks with 9 rebounds.
The RIT second unit proved to be the difference, outscoring the Brockport bench 33 to 9.
