Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team was defeated by New Paltz at home, 89-59, on Saturday. The team's record now stands at 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC.

Jenny Walton put together a near historic performance for the Hawks dropping 34 points, filling up the stat sheet with two blocks, two steals, and six rebounds.

Brianna Fitzgerald (16 points) and Abby Korzekwinski (14 points) also cracked double figures for New Paltz, combining for an effective 12-for-22 shooting from the floor (54%).

After taking an 11-point lead into the second quarter, the Hawks continued to add to its advantage by outscoring the Green and Gold in each quarter of the contest.

In 25 minutes of action,
Shannon Blankenship put together a great performance. She led Brockport with 13 points (2-3 3PT) off the bench, hustling for five rebounds and two steals.

Zairea Hannah led the Golden Eagles in rebounds (8), while also leading the contest in blocks (3).

Stephanie Jean-Baptiste (10 points) and
Hali Lucia (10 points, 4-7 FG) also broke double-figure points for Brockport. Lucia added a team-high five assists to her stat line.

Turnovers would prove to be the achilles heel for Brockport, committing 23 turnovers compared to just 13 by New Paltz. The Hawks scored 28 points off the Brockport miscues.
