Arnold Posts Career-High 27 in Loss to #10 Oswego, Brockport Locks Up No. 2 Seed

Brockport, NY – In a tough battle with #10 Oswego, Brockport came up short, 79-73. Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles have officially locked up the second seed for the SUNYAC Tournament which guarantees a first-round bye.
 
Tony Arnold posted a career-high 27 points to go with four steals and five boards. Now with 24 or more points in three of the last four games, he shot 11-for-20 from the floor on Friday night.
 
Mekhi Beckett finished with 18 points and six rebounds. He went 3-for-8 from long range in the contest. Jahidi Wallace scored an efficient 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting and included a 4-for-5 effort at the charity stripe.
 
Colby Jordan chipped in with five points and snagged a career-high eight boards. David Grady III sent away three shots defensively to go with six points and four rebounds.
 
The battle between the Green and Gold began with the squads trading baskets. However, Oswego would soon go on a nice run to take a, 14-6, lead. With 9:42 left in the first half, the visiting Lakers had extended their advantage to 12 points.
 
Tony Arnold took over with 12 straight points for Brockport, bringing the deficit down to 39-33. Arnold's spark kept the team within striking distance going into halftime. The Lakers held onto their lead at the break, 44-36.
 
Early on in the third quarter, it was Mekhi Beckett and Tony Arnold that carried the offensive load. They combined for 15 points during a run that brought the Golden Eagles within four points at 12:29 on the clock. Oswego quickly answered to create a 67-55 advantage.
 
Beckett connected on another 3-pointer which made it just a 5-point game with 1:05 left in regulation. Oswego's Devin Green came up with a few clutch makes at the foul line to put the game away. The Lakers clinch the No. 1 seed for the SUNYAC Tournament, earning hosting rights.
 
At 18-6 overall and 13-4 in the SUNYAC, the Golden Eagles will get a first-round bye for the conference tournament. They are now officially the No. 2 seed for SUNYACs.
 
Saturday will be Senior Day as the team closes out the regular season against Buffalo State. Tip-off will be at 5pm.
