Syracuse, NY – It was announced on Monday that the SUNY Brockport men and women track and field teams swept the SUNYAC weekly awards.
Dustin Meyer,
Thomas Kressly,
Sarah Crockett, and
Jennifer Metz all earned the weekly honor this time around.
Dustin Meyer hit a huge mark over the weekend at Brockport's Multi and Invitational meet at home. He took first place in the pole vault by clearing 5.01 meters. This marks a new personal-best, ranks fourth in the nation, and is just the second time in program history a Golden Eagle pole vaulter has cleared 5 meters.
Thomas Kressly helped the Golden Eagles take first in two events this past weekend at their home Brockport Multi and Invitational. First he won the 1000-meter race with a time of 2:31.72. Next he joined the distance medley relay squad that placed first with a time of 10:48.61.
Sarah Crockett earns SUNYAC weekly honors for the fourth time this season after she took first place in both the shot put and weight throw for the Golden Eagles at their home meet this past weekend. She threw a first-place distance of 13.29 meters in the shot put. Crockett maintained her strong showing with a 16.67 meter throw to win the weight throw.
Jennifer Metz hit the regional qualifying standard individually in the 800-meter and as a member of the 4x400 relay team this past weekend. She ran a 2:20.24 to place second in the 800-meter race. Then she was part of the relay squad that took first with a time of 4:04.38.
The Golden Eagles will split up the competing athletes at two different meets this upcoming weekend. A group will travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Invitational on February 10
th and 11
th. Others will head to Susquehanna University on February 10
th for the River Hawk Friday Night Invitational.
