Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Utica on the Road

Utica, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team defeated Utica University on the road, 10-4, on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles improve to 2-3 overall after their second straight win.
 
Ethan Barrett and Jack Peterson led the way offensively. They both finished with three points from two goals and one assist. Peterson also scooped up three ground balls.
 
Ben Hay scored twice, as one of five players with two points on the day. Ryan McCarthy, Nate Askin, Jhovanny Olivares, and Nick Maslin all had one goal and one assist.
 
Tim Hubbard, Aidan Long, and Bobby Alexander all tied for a team-high of five ground balls in the contest. Chris Bock caused two turnovers, while Alexander was 11-for-16 on the faceoff.
 
In net, Cameron Kuzniar made 11 saves as the starter and allowed four goals in 49:07 of action. Evan O'Connor played a total of 10:53 in the match, recording one stop between the pipes.
 
The Golden Eagles put together a great first half of play against the Pioneers in this one. With goals from Barrett and Peterson, the squad led 2-0 after the first quarter.
 
It was all Brockport in the second quarter, as the team opened the game wide open with five more scores. Barrett, Hay, Olivares, Askin, and McCarthy all found the back of the net before halftime to put the team up 7-0.
 
Hay's second goal of the game came early in the third, making it an 8-0 lead for the Green and Gold on the road. Utica was able to prevent the shutout with three scores in the third quarter. Maslin and Peterson also recorded goals in the period, giving Brockport a 10-3 lead heading into the final frame.
 
While the Pioneers scored the only goal of the fourth, it was too little too late. Brockport cruised through the finish line for the six-goal victory, getting the second win of the year.
 
The Golden Eagles are on the road again on Saturday for a trip to Maryland. They take on St. Mary's College of Maryland for a 12pm start.
