St. Mary's City, MD – On Saturday the SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team was down in Maryland to take on St. Mary's in some non-conference action. St Mary's took the win, 12-6, pushing the Golden Eagle to 2-4 on the season.
Nate Askin finished with a hat trick, leading the offense with three scores.
Ryan McCarthy finished with a pair of goals as well for the Green and Gold.
Jhovanny Olivares scored once and
Jack Peterson had one assist.
Peterson also had two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Blake Palozzi scooped up a team-high three ground balls. Both
Anthony McGee and
Michael Marincic caused two turnovers defensively.
Goalie
Cameron Kuzniar tied his career-high of 17 saves in the game. He went the full 60 minutes in net for Brockport on the day.
The Golden Eagles struck first in the opening period, but one goal from St. Mary's sent the game into the second tied at 1-1. The Seahawks went on to score five goals in the second quarter, taking a 6-3 lead at the half.
Brockport gave up four more goals in the third quarter to outpace its pair of scores. St. Mary's was up 10-5 going into the fourth and was able to extend its lead. The Green and Gold couldn't gain any ground, falling 12-6.
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Wednesday, March 22
nd. They host Nazareth for a 4pm start.
