Brockport, NY – This week the Golden Eagle women's lacrosse team is at home for a pair of games this week. They start off against #8 William Smith on Wednesday at 4pm and then take on Kenyon at 3pm on Friday.
Last Time Out: Brockport got its first win of the season and the first win for Head Coach Bryanna Glasser last week against RIT. The squad pulled out a tight, 14-13, victory over the Tigers. Brockport scored four fourth quarter goals and made key stops in the final minutes to improve to 1-1 on the season.
Burnash's Big Game: Cassidy Burnash is currently the leading scorer for the Green and Gold with nine points from eight goals and one assist. In the win over RIT she lit up the scoreboard with a career-high six goals. She scored on all six of her shot attempts, including two goals off of a free position.
Key Contributors: Courtney Cunningham and
Alayna Foos have combined for nine goals already this season. To go with her four goals, Cunningham has been all over the place on the field. She leads the team with 12 ground balls, four caused turnovers, and five draw controls. Foos is second on the team with five goals scored and has come up with four ground balls. Freshman
Courtney Bednarz is leading the team with three assists so far this season.
In Net: Erin Lant is 1-1 to start the year as the starting goalie for the Golden Eagles. She has made 11 saves in total, including eight in the win over RIT. Against RIT she made a clutch transition stop in the final minutes to help close the game out.
Hannah Parsons has spent time in net as well, making seven saves in 34:33 of action.
This Week's Opponents: The William Smith College Herons are entering the matchup at No. 8 in the nation with a record of 2-0. They have defeated both Cathlolic University and SUNY Cortland which are also holding spots in the top 25 rankings.
Kenyon College is also undefeated so far this year, entering the weekend matchup with a 4-0 mark. Scoring 20 goals in three straight games, the team has picked up wins over John Carroll, Albion, Capital, ad Washington & Jefferson.
Up Next: Following this week's pair of home games the Golden Eagles will be on the road for a single game next week. They travel to nearby University of Rochester for a 4pm meeting on Wednesday, March 15
th.
