Brockport Falls at Home to Oneonta in Conference Clash

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team lost at home to Oneonta in conference play, 8-5, on Saturday afternoon. Brockport is now 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the SUNYAC.
 
Jhovanny Olivares notched his second hat trick of the season, leading the Green and Gold with three scores in the game. Ryan McCarthy had one goal and one assist, while Carson Colucci found the back of the net once.
 
Cameron Kuzniar tied his career-high with 19 saves between the pipes. He played the full 60 minutes, allowing eight goals in the loss. Andrew DiPalma, Jack Peterson, and Anthony McGee all came up with three ground balls.
 
Oneonta got off to a strong start with three goals in the first period. The visiting Red Dragons scored twice in the first four minutes. Olivares put Brockport on the board at 8:53 in the first, as the team was down 3-1 heading into the second.
 
The second quarter saw less scoring, as both teams added one goal to their tally. Olivares netted his second of the game to make the score read 3-2. However a score from Oneonta late in the period made it a 4-2 score at the half.
 
Colucci brought the deficit down to just one goal again with his score early in the third. Oneonta responded with two quick scores to increase the lead to 6-3. McCarthy then got in on the action with his goal at the 7:54 mark. One more goal for the visiting squad put Brockport down, 7-4, going into the fourth.
 
The Red Dragons added a little more cushion with another score early in the fourth. They led 8-4 as Brockport began to run out of time. Olivares completed his hat trick in the final quarter, but the team still trailed by three. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game, giving Oneonta the 8-5 win.
 
The Golden Eagles hit the road next weekend to continue SUNYAC play. They travel to take on Potsdam for a 1pm start on Saturday, April 8th.
