Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Brockport Lacrosse team came out on the winning side in a close battle against the Potsdam Bears, that ended in a 10-9 final score.
For the most part the game continued to go back and forth. Potsdam scored first, followed by the only other goal in the first period scored by
Jesse Wooley.
Jhovanny Olivares opened the second period with an unassisted goal. Potsdam scored twice more before
Ben Hay snuck one in the net. Potsdam scored their final goal of the first half before
Nate Askin scored. Olivares scored the final goal of the first half assisted by
Ryan McCarthy.
Olivares opened the second half of the game with a goal 1 minute and 49 seconds into the third assisted by Askin. Potsdam scored a couple of minutes later making the score 6-5, Brockport. Olivares scored his fourth goal of the day, keeping the Golden Eagles ahead 7-5.
Potsdam started the final period with three goals, leaving the men trialing 8-7.
Ryan McCarthy tied the game with a goal at 9:24 into the fourth, assisted by
Ben Hay. Potsdam scored once again, leaving the men trailing by one with 2:18 left on the clock. Potsdam received a penalty, putting the Golden Eagle up one.
Carson Colucci scored the goal needed to keep the game alive with :04 left on the clock, assisted by
Ben Hay. The Men played one overtime period where no one scored.
Nate Askin scored in the second overtime period, securing the 10-9 win for the Golden Eagles.
Cam Kuzinar played 65:55 in goal for the Green and Gold allowing nine goals, making fourteen saves and being awarded the win on the day.
Brockport will be back on the road next weekend against the Cortland Red Dragons at 1pm, Saturday, April 15
th.
