Brockport, N.Y- The Golden Eagles softball team will open its home slate with doubleheader action against the University of Rochester on Wednesday, April 12
th at 3 pm with the second game scheduled for 5 pm.

Last Time Out: Brockport was on the short end of a two-game sweep against New Paltz, losing 6-0 in game one followed by an 8-0 defeat in game two.

Game One: The Green and Gold were held without a baserunner in game one, thanks to a flawless performance from New Paltz pitcher Lindsay Roman. Roman pitched a perfect game with 6 strikeouts on just 80 pitches, improving her record to 9-2 on the year. After a tough first two innings, P
Fiona Gibiser rebounded nicely, allowing just two runs in the last 4 innings and going all 6 innings with 4 strikeouts.

Game Two: The Golden Eagles fell 8-0 in 5 innings to New Paltz in game two. The offense fared better in game two with
Jenna Downey recording Brockport's only extra-base hit of the day with a leadoff double in the 2
nd inning. Seven different Hawks recorded hits in the contest, including 2 RBI hits from Kelly Marmorowski and Rhionna Bianchini in the third to fuel the New Paltz offense. Brockport fell to 3-13 following the doubleheader at New Paltz.

Riley Barrett and Sophmore
Kellie Gentile have been key contributors to the Golden Eagle offense. Barrett and Gentile rank in the top 3 for Brockport in numerous statistics, including batting average (.375 and .313), runs (9 and 10), total bases (15 and 18), and are tied with each other for the team lead in hits (15). Amanda Blakely has shown strong hitting improvement in her senior season, increasing her batting average from .291 in 2022 to .346 in the 2023 season as well as her on-base percentage (.328-.433). The Ontario native is also on pace to set a personal season high in hits, with her highest coming in her 2021 season with 17.

Scouting Rochester: The Yellowjackets are one of the hottest teams in D3 softball, winners of 10 in a row and landing themselves in the receiving votes category in the latest NFCA D3 coaches poll with a 13-5 record. P Molly Broccolo leads the Rochester pitching staff with an 8-2 record and holds the second-best ERA in the country (0.34). Brockport has not faired well in the recent matchups with the Yellowjackets, losing both of last year's matchups. Rochester will have a doubleheader with New Paltz before taking on Brockport.
