Oswego, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team came up short on the road against Oswego, 9-7, in conference play. The team is now 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC.
The hosting Lakers had a big first half with eight goals in the first two quarters, helping them hold an 8-5 lead at halftime.
With three points
Julia Quinlan led the team for Brockport, scoring one goal to go with two assists.
Cassidy Burnash chipped in with one goal, one assist, and two caused turnovers.
Paige Thowe and
Haley Chamberlain each had two goals in the contest.
Alayna Foos got in on the action with one goal of her own.
Courtney Cunningham came up big with a career-high eight draw controls.
Hannah Parsons and
Erin Lant split time down the middle between the pipes. The two goalies combined for six saves in the loss.
Oswego scored four straight goals to begin the game. The Golden Eagles got on the board with two quick scores to close the first period down, 4-2. Quinlan added an early goal in the second to help tie the game up at 4-4 in the second.
The Lakers went on another 4-0 run to jump out to an 8-4 lead. Thowe scored on the player-up advantage to make it a 3-goal game at the half.
In the second half the Green and Gold got two more scores, but Oswego did just enough to hold on for the 9-7 win.
The Golden Eagles on the road again this weekend for a 3pm meeting with Oneonta.
