Oneonta, NY – The Golden Eagle women's lacrosse team bounced back on Saturday with a 15-11 win over Oneonta on the road. They are now 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference this season.
Cassidy Burnash led the team with six points from four assists and a pair of goals.
Alayna Foos had three goals and one assist to total four points on the day.
Courtney Cunningham and
Julia Quinlan both had hat tricks with three goals each. Cunningham also chipped in with four draw controls, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Quinlan led the team with three caused turnovers in the game.
Both
Brooke Beetow and
Haley Chamberlain finished with two goals on the day.
Taylor Ford set a new career-high with nine draw controls in the contest.
Erin Lant came up with 10 saves in net for the squad and led the team with four groundballs as the starting goalie.
The Golden Eagles got off to a hot start with five unanswered goals in the first quarter. Beetow scored twice in the opening period. Oneonta scored twice in the first but Brockport remained ahead, 5-2, going into the second.
In the second, Oneonta was able to make up some ground by winning the quarter, 4-3. However, the Green and Gold continued its work on offense to hold an 8-6 lead at the half.
The hosting Red Dragons had a five-goal showing in the third quarter again looking to cut into the lead. Brockport was able to find the back of the net four more times in the third. The squad held onto a slim, 12-11, advantage going into the fourth. The Golden Eagles went on to win the fourth quarter, 3-0, pulling out the 15-11 win on the road.
Brockport is back at home next week for a 4pm matchup with Geneseo on Wednesday, April 19
th.
