Women's Lacrosse Tripped at Home by Geneseo

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team took on Geneseo at home on Wednesday in a SUNYAC matchup. The visiting Knights remain undefeated in conference play with the 10-4 win over Brockport.

Cassidy Burnash contributed on three of the team's four scores, finishing with two goals and an assist. Courtney Cunningham and Julia Quinlan both had one goal, while Alayna Foos helped with one assist.

Cunningham and Taylor Ford both snagged two draw controls for the Green and Gold. Senior goalie Erin Lant came up with eight saves in net to go with a team-high five ground balls.

Geneseo got off to a strong start, proving why the team is receiving top 25 votes in the latest IWLCA DIII poll. With three straight goals in the first, the Knights held a 3-0 lead with six minutes left in the opening period. Burnash put the Golden Eagles on the board with a pair of goals in the first, but they trailed by two going into the second.

Quinlan made it a 4-3 score after Burnash fed her for the goal. With two more goals in response, the Knights would jump out to a three-score lead. They entered halftime with a 6-3 advantage on the scoreboard.

In need of a rally to keep the game within striking distance, Cunningham provided the first score of the second half. Her goal midway through the third quarter put the Green and Gold down just two.

Geneseo would not allow Brockport to close the gap any further. The visitors kept the Golden Eagles out of the net for the remainder of the game. They also added four more goals in the third and fourth to march forward for the 10-4 win.

The Golden Eagles now have just two games left in the regular season, both to be played on their home field. On Saturday they welcome New Paltz for a 3pm start for Senior Day.
