Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a big 13-9 win over New Paltz in conference play. The Green and Gold improve to 5-3 in the conference and 6-7 overall.
Before the game there was a short ceremony to honor and recognize this year's seniors.
Cassidy Burnash,
Courtney Cunningham, and
Erin Lant were all celebrated.
Cunningham then celebrated with six points on five goals and one assist. She also had three draw controls, two caused turnovers, and four ground balls.
Alayna Foos had four points with a pair of goals and assists. Foos also hustled for four ground balls.
Cassidy Burnash finished with two goals and one assist.
Brockport also received goals from
Paige Thowe,
Brooke Beetow, and
Haley Chamberlain.
Erin Lant made seven saves to take the win on her Senior Day.
In a busy first quarter, the visiting Hawks worked for a slim 4-3 lead. Cunningham got going for the Green and Gold with a pair of scores in the period. She completed the hat trick in the second helping the team tie the score at halftime.
A big third quarter saw four goals for Brockport, including another score by Cunningham. The Golden Eagles entered the final quarter with an 11-6 lead. Both teams would score three goals in the fourth, giving Brockport the 13-9 win.
The Golden Eagles have just one regular season game left remaining before the postseason. They will host Buffalo State on Wednesday, April 26
th at 4pm.
