Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a dominant, 16-2, win over Buffalo State at home. They locked up the No. 4 seed for the SUNYAC Tournament with a record of 6-3 in the conference and 7-7 overall.
Alayna Foos led the way offensively with six points on five goals and one assist.
Cassidy Burnash finished with four goals and one assist to total five points.
Courtney Cunningham also got in on the party with four goals to go with a team-high eight draw controls.
Emma Romanski scored twice on the day, while
Julia Quinlan dished out a pair of assists.
Paige Thowe led the team with four ground balls and she scored once.
Courtney Bednarz had one assist and
Amanda Evans notched the first goal of her collegiate career.
Erin Lant made four saves in the victory as the starter in net.
The Golden Eagles scored first and led the entire way after its 1-0 lead. Burnash and Cunningham both scored twice in the opening period to give the squad a 5-0 lead after the first. By halftime Foos, Burnash, and Cunningham all had registered hat tricks offensively.
Brockport entered halftime up 11-0, after a dominant showing through the first two quarters. Buffalo State put an end to the shut out in the third with an early score to make it an 11-1 game.
Foos and Cunningham both added another score in the third to push the Green and Gold advantage to 12 heading into the fourth. Three more goals to just the one from the Bengals sealed the deal for Brockport, as the squad cruised to a 14-goal victory.
The Golden Eagles will be hosting the first round of the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed. They will welcome No. 5 New Paltz on Saturday, April 29
th for a 7pm start.
