Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team will play a pair of SUNYAC matchups this week. It starts with a trip to Fredonia on Tuesday for a 4pm start and then the team hosts Plattsburgh on Friday at 3pm.
Last Time Out: The squad dominated Potsdam, 14-3, improving to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC.
Cassidy Burnash set a new career-high in points. She finished with three goals and eight assists for a total of 11 points.
Julia Quinlan had a team-high of four goals on the day. This marks her season best output and ties her career-high.
Courtney Cunningham registered her second hat trick of the season. She recorded three goals, four ground balls, and five draw controls.
Alayna Foos chipped in with two goals and two assists for the Green and Gold. Both
Brooke Beetow and
Paige Thowe found the back of the net once in the contest.
Taylor Ford was disruptive defensively, forcing a team-high and career-high five turnovers.
Hannah Parsons picked up the first win of her collegiate career in net. The freshman goalie made eight saves and allowed just three goals.
Big Week for Burnash: Last week
Cassidy Burnash set a new career-high in points on two separate occasions. She totaled 18 points from eight goals and 10 assists across two games for the Green and Gold. Her week started with a career-high, seven-point outing on five goals and two helpers against Nazareth. Burnash then came back with an even better showing in a win over Potsdam. She set a new career-high with 11 points on three goals and eight assists. With these numbers she ties the second most points and assists for a single game in program history.
SUNYAC Play: Brockport is 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference so far this year. The squad lost a close, 10-8, battle to Cortland. Then for the first SUNYAC win of the season the Golden Eagles defeated Potsdam, 14-3. They only have conference games remaining on the regular season schedule, as they sit in sixth in the SUNYAC standings heading into this week's slate. Geneseo, Oswego, Cortland, and Oneonta are all still without a loss in league play.
Looking at Fredonia: Currently on a four-game losing streak, the Fredonia Blue Devils are 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference. They have struggled in the SUNYAC so far, getting outscored by league opponents 47-11 in three games. #1 Erin Woods leads the way with 36 goals and 11 assists for 47 total points. #0 Emily Carr has made 100 saves in net as the starting goalie.
Scouting Plattsburgh: The Cardinals look to bounce back after a pair of SUNYAC losses last week to New Paltz and Geneseo. They are sitting at 4-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play so far this year. Plattsburgh will take on Utica on Tuesday ahead of the matchup with Brockport on Friday. #18 Lindsay leads the team with 19 goals and #13 Emma McLaughlin has a team-best 22 total points.
