Brockport, NY – On Friday night, the SUNY Brockport women's tennis team will close out its season against D'Youville University. The match is set to begin at 5:30pm at the Salmon Creek Country Club in Spencerport, NY.
Senior Day: The final match of the season will also be Senior Day for the Golden Eagles. At the venue they will be taking time to honor, recognize, and thank the senior class. This year the lone senior Brockport will be honoring is
Elizabeth Sirico.
Last Time Out: In a road matchup against the Nazareth Golden Flyers, Brockport came up short in its first outing of the spring season. Nazareth took the win, 8-1, sweeping singles play on the day. The Green and Gold snagged its lone point in double play, as
Eliza Gonzalez and
Elizabeth Sirico won in the first doubles slot.
Top Performers: Eliza Gonzalez has been the most successful player in the lineup all year for the Golden Eagles. She owns a record of 4-3 in singles play, including a 2-2 mark against conference opponents. She is also 4-3 in doubles play, despite playing with two different partners. Gonzalez and
Elizabeth Sirico are 2-2 together, while Gonzalez and
Olivia Raschiatore are 2-1 together in doubles play.
Scouting D'Youville: The D'Youville Saints enter Friday night's matchup with Brockport owning a record of 1-8 overall. They most recently lost to RIT, 8-1, on the road. The team's only win of the season came by way of a 5-2 defeat of Fredonia at home.
Season Finale: With the Golden Eagles already eliminated from postseason contention this season, Friday night will be the final match of the year for the team. The season finale begins at 5:30pm at the Salmon Creek Country Club in Spencerport, NY.
