Burnash Scores 100th Career Goal in Convincing Win Over Plattsburgh

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team won its third in a row on Friday afternoon, defeating Plattsburgh at home, 15-5. The Golden Eagles are now 3-1 in conference play and improve to 4-5 overall on the season.

At the 7:50 mark in the first quarter, Cassidy Burnash recorded the 100th goal of her career. Julia Quinlan fed Burnash on a cut to the net for the score, as she becomes the 14th player in program history to break the century mark.

Alayna Foos led the way with a career-high six points, as the sophomore scored four goals and dished out a pair of assists. Cassidy Burnash totaled three goals and one assist on the day of her big milestone.

Courtney Cunningham's third straight hat trick sets a new career-high for scores on a season and gives her 50 for her career. She continues to do it all for the Golden Eagles as she also led the way with seven draw controls and five ground balls. Taylor Ford came up big with a team-high four caused turnovers, four ground balls, and two draw controls.

Paige Thowe recorded the first hat trick of her career, finishing with three goals and three ground balls. Julia Quinlan had three points on one goal and two assists. Haley Chamberlain also got in on the action, scoring her first career goal with the Green and Gold.

The Golden Eagles led from start to finish on Friday, taking a quick lead with Cunningham's goal just 1:02 into the game. They outscored Plattsburgh, 6-2, in the period with Cunningham and Burnash both scoring twice. Thowe and Foos also found the back of the net in the first.

It was more of the same in the second quarter which saw Brockport add six more goals to its tally. Foos had two goals in the frame, while Quinlan, Cunningham, Burnash, and Thowe each had one. Thowe scored on a free position with just two ticks before halftime to make it a 12-3 lead.

After an early third quarter penalty, Brockport was ready during the player advantage opportunity. Thowe would score her third of the day to put the team up 10. Soon both Foos and Chamberlain would add another to all but put the game away. Plattsburgh scored once in the third and fourth, but the deficit was too large.

The Golden Eagles dominated at home for the 10-goal win, 15-5. They hit the road on Wednesday, April 12th for a 4pm battle with Oswego.
