Field Hockey Extends Win Streak to 4 With 5-3 Win in Albany

Albany, NY- The Brockport women's field hockey team extended its undefeated streak to 4 games, rolling past Russell Sage 5-3 on Sunday. The Golden Eagles went 2-0 on the road this weekend, defeating RPI on Friday.

The Golden Eagles offense set the tone from the get-go, outshooting Sage 12-4 in the first period, and getting on the board early with Emmalee Moore's goal from Paige Thowe 10:25 into the contest. Moore and Thowe were far from done, with Thowe burying a feed from Bailey Lazore at 8:56 in the second period to double the Brockport lead.

Emmalee Moore would find paydirt again in the first half, taking advantage of a Sage penalty with 10 seconds left in the half and burying her penalty stroke to put the Green and Gold ahead 3-0 at halftime.

The Gators got on the scoreboard quickly in the third, with Sara O'Connor scoring just 30 seconds into the third period. Nearly 14 minutes later, Paige Thowe scored her second goal of the game and her third on the season. Alyssa Fitzgerald would threaten the Golden Eagles lead with her goal from Sara O'Connor to cut the deficient to 4-2. Quinn Guy however would continue her impressive season with an unassisted insurance goal with 8:25 remaining to put Brockport ahead 5-2 and effectively putting the game out of reach.

Sage's Sara O'Connor would find the back of the net just over a minute later for her 5th point of the game, scoring what would make the final 5-3. Katelynn Banning and Ell Buchanan split the minutes between the pipes, with Buchanan earning her fourth straight win and making 3 saves on 4 shots.

Junior Paige Thowe's 5 points in the contest (2 goals and 1 assist) set her individual single-game career high in points across her 3 years as a Golden Eagle.

Emmalee Moore's two goals tied her with Quinn Guy and Paige Thowe for the team lead in goals (3), and moved the junior into the points leader for the Green and Gold.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Gators 28-12 (20-7 SOG), led by Tiffany Andres, Quinn Guy, and Emmalee Moore firing six shots each.

Ella Buchanan has continued her strong season, allowing just two goals across 4 games, and saving 80% of the shots she's faced across over 215 minutes of game action.

The Golden Eagles will wrap its 4-game road trip against Utica on Wednesday, September 13th at 4 pm.
