Meadville, PA – The women's soccer team extended its win streak to five in a row after a dominating, 6-1, performance Wednesday evening against Allegheny College. Brockport has now improved to 5-1, marking the best start with the team for Head Coach
Mike Idland and the best start for the program since 2014.
Jaylah Cossin had a big game for the Green and Gold, posting her first hat trick since joining the team. She leads the Golden Eagles on the season with 15 total points (5 goals, 5 assists).
Katie Hotaling got the ball rolling scoring first for the Golden Eagles at 11:12 in the first half. The power team of
Lara Kanbur and
Karlie Mann struck again as Mann sent the ball to Kanbur who buried it in the net for Brockport's second goal of the game. The team held a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Jaylah Cossin opened the second period in with three goals in a row all unassisted. Cossin scored her first goal at 53:49. She scored her second at 56:37 and her final goal at 80:22 earning her a hat trick.
Allison Thoman sent the ball across the field to
Kaleigh Pettit who scored at 86:12 in the second half.
The Golden Eagles were unable to keep their shutout streak alive, as Alleghany scored in the final minutes of play. Brockport put up a total of 23 shots total, 15 of which were on goal, compared to Alleghany's 8 total and 3 on goal. Brockport was awarded three corner kicks while the Gators got one.
In goal for the Green and Gold was
Madeline McCrosson and
Karissa Champion. McCrosson spent 83:00 in goal making two saves and allowing no goals. Champion spent 7:00 in goal and allowed one goal.
Brockport will return home on Saturday, September 16
th to host Juniata College at 1pm on the New Turf for the Community and Youth Celebration Game.
This weekend's game will be the Community and Youth Celebration Game here at Brockport. The Golden Eagles will be welcoming the Brockport Soccer Club U10 Girls' Team to the field for the event. Youth soccer players will be joining the Green and Gold on the field for warmups and introductions prior to the start of play. The visiting club team will play a short exhibition match during halftime of Saturday's game.
