Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team fell in its season opener against St. John Fisher, 7-2, on Friday, September 1
st.
The Golden Eagles' two points both came in the way of doubles matches, with the 1
st doubles duo of
Eliza Gonzalez and
Olivia Raschiatore defeating Olivia Rizzo and Kathryn Strait of Fisher, 8-5. The sister duo of
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin secured the Golden Eagles' second point of the day with an 8-5 win in 2
nd doubles action, taking down Maddy Langley and Eliana Kelly.
Eliza Gonzalez was narrowly edged out in 1
st singles competition by Kathryn Strait. Gonzalez secured the first set 7-5 before dropping the second set 7-6, and the final set 14-12.
Olivia Raschiatore was very competitive in 2
nd singles action, taking the second set 6-4 against Maddy Langley of Fishers to even the score until Langley took the final set 10-4.
Samantha Aubin lost two tight sets in 4
th singles action against Olivia Rizzo, falling short in a strong effort 6-4 and 7-5.
The Golden Eagles will be right back home tomorrow (September 2
nd) to take on Houghton at 1pm.
