Grantham, PA – This weekend the Golden Eagles were down in Pennsylvania competing at the Messiah University Invitational. They went 1-2 at the event, moving to 4-8 overall on the season.
Brockport 3, Messiah 1 – Final
The hosting squad from Messiah took the first set of the match, 25-19. It was a quick turnaround for the Golden Eagles, as they won the next three sets in a row. After set wins of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-18 Brockport earned the 3-1 win.
Leah Vitiello had a team-high 16 kills in the match.
Jordan Thompson had 15 kills, 13 digs, four block assists and a pair of aces.
Elsie Logan finished with a team-best 21 digs against Messiah. Freshman
Kaitlyn Jewett posted a career-high 40 assists to go with four aces.
Brockport 1, Rowan 3 – Final
In the second match of the weekend, Rowan handed Brockport its first loss of the tournament. The first set was tight, as the Green and Gold lost 25-23. Rowan dominated the second, 25-12, taking a 2-0 lead. Brockport pulled out a 25-18 win in the third set, before falling 25-20 in the fourth.
Alenna Williamson had nine kills to lead the attack and had two block assists.
Jordan Thompson had seven kills, 12 digs, and two block assists. Logan Elsie came up with 22 digs for a team-high.
Kaitlyn Jewett had 17 assists and
Ashley Allen had 12.
Brockport 0, Gettysburg 3 – Final
The Gettysburg College Bullets swept the Golden Eagles in the final match of the weekend. They won with three straight set scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-15.
Leah Vitiello and
Jordan Thompson both had seven kills for the squad. Thompson also 11 digs, while
Elsie Logan had 17 digs.
Brooklyn Sullivan had three service aces in the match.
The Golden Eagles are back at home next weekend for a pair of SUNYAC contests. They will take on Plattsburgh State and Potsdam for a Friday/Saturday slate.
