Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Brockport Soars Past Thiel, 7-0, on The Road

Greensville, PA – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team traveled to Greensville, PA on Sunday to pick up the first win of the 2023 season. The women defeated Thiel College, 7-0, improving to 1-1 overall.

Jaylah Cossin and McKenna Slate both totaled four points on the day. Cossin registered two assists to go along with her first goal since joining the Golden Eagles. Slate found the back of the net twice, as the freshman scored the first and second goal of her career in the win.

Kiley Longin scored her first points of the season with three in the match thanks to one goal and one assist. Kaleigh Pettit, Katie Hotaling, and Amelia Breton each scored once in the contest for the Green and Gold.

It was Breton who opened up the game on Sunday, netting her first collegiate goal at 18:10 into the first half. Longin had the assist to help the women hold a 1-0 halftime lead. McKenna Slate, Kiley Longin, Jaylah Cossin, Kaleigh Pettit and Katie Hotaling joined the party all by scoring in the second half.
 
McKenna Slate struck first at 49:04 scoring assisted by Jaylah Cossin. Kiley Longin scored 15 second later at 49:20, unassisted. At 51:35 Cossin scored unassisted putting the Golden Eagles up 4-0. Slate scored her second goal of the game at 58:29, assisted by Cossin. At 83:25 into the second half Pettit scored the unassisted goal. Katie Hotaling scored with 6:45 left in the game, unassisted making the final score 7-0.
 
Karissa Champion, Emily McCane and Madeline McCrosson all saw time in the net today for the Golden Eagles. Karliee Mann, Kellie Gentile and Lena Turaji did a good job defending their goalies, only letting up one shot on goal. McCrosson played 52:26 minutes in goal for the Golden Eagles. Emily McCane played 28:23 minutes in goal and made her first collegiate save. Karissa Champion finished off the game with 9:11 of action in net.

The Golden Eagles will head to St. John Fisher University on Tuesday, September 5th for a 7pm game under the lights!
