Brockport, NY – On Saturday, the SUNY Brockport women's tennis team defeated Fredonia at home, 6-3. Picking up their first SUNYAC win, the Golden Eagles are now 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Brockport's top doubles team of
Eliza Gonzalez and
Olivia Raschiatore took care of business to score a point. They defeated Bernadette Gens and Caitlin Snyder, 8-1.
The twin team of
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin also picked up another doubles victory this season. They won in second doubles, 8-5.
In singles play, the Golden Eagles took four of the six available points to lock up the win at home.
Eliza Gonzalez defeated Fedonia's Gens in two straight sets 6-3, 6-1 in first singles. The second singles player,
Olivia Raschiatore also won in two sets 6-4, 6-2.
Lena Paolicelli had to battle hard for her point in the fourth singles matchup against Fredonia's Sophie Olson. Olson took the first set, 6-3, before Paolicelli rallied back for a 6-4 win in the second. She then won the third set tiebreaker, 7-6.
Sophie Langdon dominated in her sixth singles slot with a 6-2, 6-0 win in two sets.
The Golden Eagles now prepare for their trip out to Binghamton, NY next week for matchups against Plattsburgh, Oneonta, and New Paltz.
