Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team improved to 2-0 in SUNYAC play and 6-8 overall with a 3-0 sweep of Potsdam on Saturday.
In the first set, the Golden Eagles pushed through to take the first point of the match, 25-20. They would fair even better in the second set with a 25-17 win, going up 2-0. Battling for a 25-22 win in the third, Brockport completed its third sweep of the season.
Leah Vitiello posted a match-high 14 kills and had one solo block for a team-high 15 points on the day.
Jordan Thompson was close behind with 12 kills against the Bears, leading the squad with 41 total attacks.
Alexis Sison finished with 10 kills for the second match in a row.
The Golden Eagle setters did their jobs well, totaling 42 assists compared to just 19 by Potsdam.
Kaitlyn Jewett had 25 assists to lead Brockport's effort. Freshman
Arrica Silliman registered a career-high 14 assists in the match.
Checking in as the libero on Saturday,
Brooklyn Sullivan came up with a season-high 22 digs to lead the Green and Gold. Sison and Thompson combined for 17 digs.
Elsie Logan and
Gianna Felipe each had seven.
Jayda Pyle and
Alexis Sison were both credited with three block assists.
Kaia Hubbard and
Jordan Thompson both had two block assists.
Brockport volleyball continues SUNYAC play next weekend with another Friday/Saturday slate. New Paltz is up first for a 6pm start on October 6
th, before the Golden Eagles head to Oneonta on the 7
th for a 1pm matchup.
