Plattsburgh, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team picked up a big SUNYAC win on the road, defeating Plattsburgh State, 70-64, on Friday, January 12
th. The Golden Eagles moved to 7-6 and 3-3 in SUNYAC play following the win.
 
Brockport rolled to a 5-point advantage at the end of the first, thanks to 7 straight points from 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste in the final 2:02 of the quarter. SJB and 
Zoe Zutes would combine for 21 of Brockport's 23 points in the first quarter.
 
The Cardinal defense held the Golden Eagles in check in the second quarter, limiting Brockport to just 9 points on 22.2% shooting from the floor. Plattsburgh took a a 2-point lead going into halftime. Jaden Wilson led Plattsburgh in scoring in the first half with 10 points.
 
The Brockport offense came to life in the third, with 
Zoe Zutes hitting threes on back-to-back possessions for her 18
th and 21
st points in the contest.
 
Kelsey Morgans scored back-to-back baskets in the third to give Brockport a seven-point lead before Plattsburgh would cut the lead to two entering the fourth.
 
The Golden Eagles would shut the door in the fourth. 
Zairea Hannah provided two clutch buckets in the down the stretch to go along with 6 fourth-quarter points from Jean-Baptiste.
 
Brockport held a deceive rebounding edge (52 to 41), thanks largely in part to a 17-rebound performance from Hannah.  
 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste had a great outing with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals.
 
In back-to-back games, 
Zoe Zutes recorded career highs in multiple statistical categories. Zutes exploded for 27 points (career-high), 10 FG made (career-high), 6 3pt made (career-high), and 5 blocks (career-high). She added 8 rebounds and shot an outstanding 75% from three-point range (6/8).
