Potsdam, NY – On Saturday the SUNY Brockport women's basketball team fell to the Potsdam Bears, 61-51. The team's record moves to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in SUNYAC play.
Zairea Hannah finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds, notching her fourth double-double of the year.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste contributed on both ends with 13 points, five boards, and five steals.
After scoring a career-high 27 points last night,
Zoe Zutes stayed hot to begin this contest. She scored six of Brockport's 11 points in the first quarter. Potsdam would hold a 15-11 lead heading into the second.
The Bears would use the second quarter to create a 7-point lead at halftime, outscoring Brockport 15-12 in the period. Jakia Howard and Carley Hill both finished the opening half with 10 points to lead Potsdam.
In the third quarter, Potsdam scored 15 points for a third straight period to add on to its advantage. In the final seconds of the third,
Zairea Hannah finished up her double-double with a late score. Brockport entered the fourth quarter trailing by nine points, 45-36.
The hosting Bears came out in the fourth looking to put the game out of reach. They stretched the lead to 13 points with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. The Green and Gold was unable to mount the comeback, taking the loss on the road to conclude the weekend trip.
The Golden Eagles will return to their home floor on Tuesday, January 16
th. They host Fredonia looking to bounce back in SUNYAC play.
