Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team defeated Fredonia, 78-71, on Thursday, January 16
th. Brockport improved to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in SUNYAC play.

The Golden Eagles came out hot from three-point range in the first quarter, shooting 45.5% (5-11) from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles would take a six-point lead into the second frame.

Zoe Zutes would drill a midrange jumper to extend the Brockport lead to 9 with 2:30 remaining before a pair of Sarah Seaman free throws cut the lead to 7 entering halftime. Zutes would finish with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block.

The Blue Devils would cut the lead to 1 entering the fourth, thanks to 8 third-quarter points from Allie Wandell. Wandell was effective throughout, leading Fredonia with 20 points and 8 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles cruised back ahead in the fourth, thanks to an 8-0 run all coming from
Zairea Hannah. She would finish the contest with her 5
th double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

Mandy Brink put together her best performance as a Golden Eagle, leading the team with a career-high 16 points and adding 3 rebounds.

Kelsey Morgans made winning plays throughout, shooting a perfect 2-2 for 5 points, adding 5 rebounds, and delivering great hustle plays for Brockport.

Anna Lee rounded out the double-digit scorers for Brockport, scoring 12 points on 50% shooting (5-10).

Bench points proved to be the difference maker as the Brockport bench outscored the Fredonia bench unit 29 to 22.
