Women's Basketball Comes Up Short at Geneseo

Geneseo, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team lost a hard-fought battle at Geneseo, 67-60, on Saturday. The Golden Eagles fell to 8-8 overall and 4-5 in SUNYAC play following the loss.

The first quarter proved to be an even affair, with Mandy Brink connecting twice from downtown for six points in the quarter. Zairea Hannah would sink a layup with 13 seconds remaining to give her eight points in the first and tie the game at 18-18 entering the second.

Neither team created much separation on the scoreboard in the first half, as Brockport entered halftime down just two points.  In the second quarter, the Golden Eagles shot 66.7% from deep (4-6 3PT) to keep pace with the Knights 50% shooting from beyond the arc (4-8 3PT) in the quarter.

With Brockport leading by one, Kiley Snow of Geneseo would continue her monster first half. She drilled a 3-pointer for her 25th point of the half, giving the Knights a 2-point edge at halftime. Snow would finish the contest with a game high 27 points, shooting an outstanding 7-of-13 from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles would put together a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Knights 21 to 13, thanks in part to a 6-2 edge on the offensive glass.

The Geneseo defense would hold the Golden Eagles offense in check in the final frame, keeping Brockport to just seven points in the fourth. Kerry Dennin would come up big for Geneseo in the fourth, scoring six points in crunch time to help the Knights get the win at home.

Zairea Hannah was excellent throughout for Brockport, dropping a team high 16 points and game-high 20 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the year.

Anna Lee cracked double figures for Brockport, scoring 12 points and adding four rebounds.

Zoe Zutes filled up the stat sheet, hitting three 3-pointers for nine points, along with seven rebounds, five assists, a block, and a steal.
