Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team was defeated on the road at Fredonia, 60-58, on Tuesday, January 23
rd. The Golden Eagles fell to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in SUNYAC play following the loss.
 
Both teams were effective from the floor in the first quarter, with Fredonia's Allie Wandell and Grace Alexander combining for 15 points in the quarter. 
Zairea Hannah would drill a jump shot for her ninth point of the first, keeping Brockport within five entering the second.
 
Both defenses stepped up in the second quarter, with the Blue Devils shooting just 23.8% from the floor and the Golden Eagles scoring just 10 points in the period.
 
Fredonia would jump out to a 10-point lead early in the second before 
Zoe Zutes answered with seven straight Brockport points.
 
Down eight at halftime, the Brockport offense would come alive. 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste scored seven points in the quarter, cutting the lead to three entering the fourth. Jean-Baptiste would finish with 11 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
 
In a back-and-forth final frame, a 
Zoe Zutes 3-pointer with 10 seconds left cut the lead to one. However, the Golden Eagles could not convert in the final seconds, falling 60-58.
 
Zutes led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 17 points, adding nine rebounds and three blocks.
 
Grace Alexander and Allie Wandell were strong for Fredonia. Alexander dropped a game-high 19 points and Wandell recorded a double-double (18 points, 13 rebounds).
 
Zairea Hannah recorded another double-double, scoring 13 points and snatching 20 rebounds for the third time this year.
 
Mandy Brink finished with eight points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
