Golden Eagles Drop SUNYAC Clash at Cortland

Cortland, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team fell on the road against Cortland, 69-48, on Saturday, January 6th. Brockport has now lost five straight, moving to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

The first half provided a close affair, with the Brockport defense holding the Red Dragons to just 8-of-38 shooting (21.1%) from the floor. Zoe Zutes led the charge in the first half, leading all scorers with seven points and snatching five rebounds.

Zairea Hannah chipped in with six points and seven rebounds in the first half, guiding Brockport to a 2-point advantage at the halftime break. Hannah would finish the contest with a game-high 14 rebounds, now giving her 34 total boards in the last two outings.
 
The Red Dragons would take control in the second half, holding the Golden Eagles to just 8 made field goals, while shooting 61.8% from the floor in the half. Abby Wilkinson would lead the charge for Cortland, scoring 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second half. Sophie Bissaillon provided 11 points off the bench for the Red Dragons, drilling three of her six 3-point attempts.
 
Cortland earned a significant advantage in the paint, scoring 40 points compared to just 14 for the Green and Gold. The Golden Eagles held a slight advantage from beyond the arc, shooting 27.3% (6-for-22) compared to Cortland's 26.3% (5-for-19) shooting from three-point range.
 
Zoe Zutes put together another efficient performance, leading all Brockport scorers with 13 points on an effective 5-of-7 shooting (2-for-3 3PT). Zutes also added seven rebounds along with a block and steal in 31 minutes of action.

The Golden Eagles will look to get back on track on Tuesday, January 9th as they host Buffalo State at 4 pm.
