Keuka Park, NY - The SUNY Brockport volleyball team picked up a win in conference play by sweeping Keuka College, 3-0, on the road Friday night. The victory pushes Brockport to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8.
It was a dog fight in the first two sets, both being decided by just two points. The Golden Eagles pulled out tough wins of 26-24 and 27-25 to take a 2-0 lead. They then dominated the third set, 25-16, to complete the sweep in hostile territory, 3-0.
Alenna Williamson led the way with an efficient showing, recording a match-best 13 kills (.400 pct). She also got up for three total blocks (1 solo, 2 assisted) and got down for four digs.
Alexis Sison,
Anna Cascapera, and
Lauren Emke each had eight kills.
Spreading the ball around was
Kaitlyn Jewett having a strong night in the setter spot. Totaling 38 assists in the match, she notches her second highest total of the season. Jewett also had 10 digs, behind only
Elsie Logan's tally of 15 digs on the night.
Lauren Emke and
Alyssa Bruno both had one solo and one block assist in the contest. On the serve, Brockport saw aces from
Kaitlyn Jewett (2),
Elsie Logan (2),
Anna Cascapera (1), and
Gianna Felipe (1).
Brockport is back in action on Saturday for some home volleyball. The Green and Gold will host Elmira for a 1pm start in The Vlog.
