Field Hockey Tops Oneonta 4-3 in 2OT

Brockport, NY- The Brockport field hockey team defeated Oneonta in a double-overtime thriller at home, 4-3, on Wednesday, October 16th. The Golden Eagles extended their winning streak to 8 straight, moving to 11-3 on the season.
 
Kelsey Zehr would have a big day, racking up 4 points on two goals, including the opening goal to put Brockport up 1-0 in the first.
 
Both goalies would take control in the first half, making 5 saves each, resulting in a 1-0 Brockport advantage going into halftime.
 
The Red Dragon offense would respond in the 3rd period, taking a 2-1 lead into the 4th thanks to goals from Erin Clark and Alexandra Howell.
 
Just 1:15 into the 4th, Ella Buchanan kept the score 2-1 with a big save on a Caitlyn Caulfield penalty stroke.
 
The Golden Eagles would bounce back in a big way, responding with the game's next two goals. Tiffany Andres connected with Paige Thowe for her 2nd and 3rd points on the day before Kelsey Zehr would take advantage of her penalty stroke to put Brockport back ahead 3-2 at the 54:32 mark.   
 
Oneonta would not go away lightly, with Erin Clark scoring her second goal of the day with less than 2 minutes remaining to force overtime.
 
Following an evenly matched first overtime, Brockport would find the golden goal in double overtime. Samantha Choate would bury an Allison Greene feed 2:10 into double overtime for the 4-3 victory.
 
Ella Buchanan (W, 9-2) was excellent throughout, making 12 stops on the day across 72:10 of action.
 
Kelsey Zehr (2G, 4 points) and Paige Thowe (1G, 1A) led Brockport with 7 shots each (5 SOG).
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will look to keep rolling as they head to Rochester to battle Nazareth on Saturday, October 19th at noon.
